It's a boy!!

Yep That's right! It's a boy and we are so excited! We are almost half way through, and it seems like we have forever to go. I've gone shopping and bought some stuff for the little guy now that we know that he is a boy! It has been so much fun! Grant is also very excited now that he has gotten used to the fact that he will have a brother instead of a sister. He just wants a baby! And that is how mommy and daddy feel too! We just want a healthy baby!!!

18 weeks

This Life magazine cover (April 30, 1965) was named one of their best. It shows an 18-week old fetus in the womb photographed using an endoscope with an electronic flash by Sweden’s Linnart Nilsson. His book, A Child is Born, sold 8 million copies in the first four days after publication
Week Eighteen: Baby begins to hear
You are 18 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 16 weeks)
•The fetus is now 6 inches long and weighs 7 ounces.
•The fetus measures about 15cm and weighs almost 200 grams.
•They can hear sounds and may be startled by loud noises.
•Recognizable active and rest periods.
•The skin is building a protective wax layer (vernix).
Vernix (a white cheese like protective material) forms on baby's skin with the lanugo, a soft lightly pigmented hair covering the body and limbs, both help to protect your baby's skin during the months in water. Your baby may hear your heart beating, your stomach rumbling or blood moving through the umbilical cord. He or she may even be startled by loud noises.

Tiny air sacs called alveoli begin to form in lungs and the vocal chords are formed. Baby goes through the motions of crying but without air doesn't make a sound; yet.
Your baby may have the same awake and sleep patterns of a newborn. Baby will have a favorite position for sleep and recognizable active and rest periods.
Your baby measures about 6 inches (15cm) crown to rump and weighs about 7 ounces (200gm)

17 weeks

Your baby will begin to form fat this week. The fat begins to deposit under his skin and is important in heat production and metabolism. At delivery, fat will account for 2-6 percent of your baby's total body weight. This will help him maintain his body temperature when he is born. Your baby is approximately 5 inches long and weighs in at about 140-145 grams (5 ounces). This means that the baby now weighs more than the placenta.

If you were to get an abdominal x-ray (which isn't recommended and could be dangerous), your baby's skeleton would be visible. His movements are becoming stronger and more frequent now. Reflex movements are fully functional as your baby will regularly suck and swallow and loud noises outside the uterus may actually cause the baby to startle.

I am feeling a little bit more energetic (even though I dont sleep) which is nice. It has been wonderful to be able to get outside and play this past week, with all the nice weather we have had. The warm spring sunshine deffinitely lifts my spirits! With the warmer weather, of course, I am getting warmer. It is going to be a really long hot summer being pregnant! I have been really hungry and want to eat everything which I try not to. I have gained 2 pounds and I am not happy about that but oh well. Thats life. My headaches, although I thought were begining to go away, are back with a vengance. When I went to the doctor yesterday he said the baby is doing well and the heartbeat was at 140, right where it should be! Two more weeks until we get to find out the sex of the baby! I cant wait!

More randomness

So Thursday my sweet little man had his first tee ball game. You dont know how long I have waited for this! I love baseball and football. (only if someone I know is playing) They are so funny at this age because they basically have no idea what to do. It is hilarious to watch them! And hopefully Grant will continue to have the desire to play and we will have many more years of watching him play baseball!
Friday was rodeo day at school. I go to school with Grant every Friday anyway so I was there helping out and it was so much fun! I am so blessed to be able to stay home with him and have these great experiences to share with him!
Friday night we went to the Bees home opener. Jared and I have not missed a home opener since we met! We went when I was 7 months pregnant with Grant and have taken him every year since. We cant wait to continue this tradition with our baby! The fireworks were awesome and it was wonderful lying there on the grass surrounded by the my family, my little man in my arms, me in Jared's arms, and I could feel the baby going crazy in my tummy! I am such a very lucky girl!
And this sweet goofy little boy makes me so happy!
Saturday was Stephani's baby shower. It was a lot of fun to see family that I dont see very often! Next to these beautiful cousins of mine I just look fat and frumpy, but I dont even mind! I am so happy right now I dont really care.
These two are sister in laws. They are due only two weeks apart. How fun will that be for thier kids to be so close and become little buddies! Jen is having a boy and Steph is having a girl!! Congrats to you both!

Us three prego girls with Grandma Bennett. Soon she will have 3 new great grandbabies. What a blessing!!

16 weeks

You are 16 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 14 weeks)

The fetus measures nearly 5 inches (12cm) from head to buttocks.
The fetus weighs about 3.5 ounces (100 grams).
The fetus is covered with a protective soft down to regulate its temperature.
Fat begins to form underneath skin.
Baby hears external voices, sleeps and dreams.
Your baby has learned to breathe. This is apparent from the regular movements of his chest, inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid. These actions help the lungs to develop and grow. More developed facial muscles may lead to various expressions, such as squinting and frowning. Your baby nows weighs more than their afterbirth. The baby can grasp with his hands, kick, or even somersault.
You are showing more now and have an obvious swelling in your lower abdomen. The rest of your body is still changing. A total of 5 to 10 pound (2.25 to 4.5 kg) weight gain by this point in your pregnancy is normal.
The crown to rump length of your baby is 4.4 to 4.8 inches (11 to 12 cm). Fetal weight has doubled in 2 weeks and is about 3.5 ounces (100g).

I am doing really well! My headaches are still really bad in intensity, but they are down to about twice a week. Believe it or not that is a huge improvement. I only took the tylenol with codeine once and it didnt help one bit so I decided it wasnt worth it to even take it. Hopefully soon they will just go away all together! I am having some growing pains but nothing too bad. And I am feeling the baby more and more. I told Grant that the baby could hear us now so he is talking to her all the time. It is the sweetest thing ever. At my ultrasound last week we asked the tech if she could look between the legs! She told us she would try but it was still a little early to tell anything. She tried looking several times in the half hour that we were there. When she finally got the baby to open it's legs she thought she may have seen a male part, but she said she is not sure and it could very well have been the cord caught between her legs. Until we know for sure we are all holding out hope for a girl! Grant was actually really upset when she said it might be a boy. He wants a sister so bad. We all know that I want a girl, but I know that Jared wants a little princess really bad as well. So heres to hoping!!!

15 weeks

25 weeks to go. 175 days. WOW! That seems like forever to wait to see and hold our sweet baby. We just can not wait to have this baby here in our arms!

You may begin to feel some fluttering movements as baby kicks, flails, twists and turns. She can also grasp, squint, frown, grimace and maybe suck her thumb!
Your baby's legs have grown longer than the arms and the body is now longer than the head.
And you'll be happy to note that he is moving those arms and legs often!
His skin is very thin -- so thin blood vessel are visible. It's covered by a fine, soft layer of hair called lanugo. Lanugo comes from a Latin word meaning "down." This hair is thought to help insulate your little boy.
The three tiny bones in his middle ear have begun to harden. The auditory centers in your baby's brain haven't developed yet, so she might not really understand what you say but her hearing capacity is in the process of developing.
Fingernails and toenails are growing.
Eyebrows are beginning to grow and even the hair his head is sprouting. It will probably change color and texture after birth.
All this and your little one is an amazing 3.98 inches (10.1cm) long and may weigh 2.47 ounces (70gm).

Easter Fun

Easter morning could not come soon enough for Grant this year! He was awake before 7:00 which is very early for him. But hey it's Easter right? He couldnt wait to find out if the Easter Bunny had come and what he had brought! So we headed downstairs to check it out!
Grant made this cute little Easter bunny and left a carrott out the night before! The real bunny ate some of the carrott and left an egg behind!
We looked for Grant's Easter basket for a while (it was hidden well this year) along the way we found a bunch more eggs the bunny had hidden!
We finally found his basket which was behind the couch under a bunch of blankets!
Can you tell he is excited!
Grant got Princess and the Frog, some legos, a book, a ball, a coloring book, some tattoos and two pairs of pajamas. (cause the Easter bunny that comes to our house is obsessed with pajamas for some reason)
Then we went up to Maama and Papas and of course there were more goodies waiting there! Maama and Papa are amazing! What more can I say? They know that I dont like Grant to have lots of sugary crap so this is what they put in his basket, sugar free licorice, sugar free life savers, sunsweet prunes, some awesome foam soap for the tubby, and FLARP (best thing he got this year) and a La crosse set that he loves! I am pretty sure he liked what was in M and P's basket better than the one the Easter bunny brought!
We also had an Easter egg hunt and of course an awesome dinner!
Grandma Bennett decided to spend Easter with us this year and I am so glad that she did! The best part is we had her all to ourselves!
Uncle Brock helping Grant get the last egg, it was the golden egg, which as we all know holds a special tressure every year!
This year it had a 5 dollar bill in it! Grant was so excited. The other eggs he found also had CASH in them. He found $13.00 in his eggs this year and Opa gave him a 5 dollar bill as well! Since he was just little and didnt even know what money really was yet, this little man has always loved "CASH". He is so funny!
We had an awesome day as usual! Thank you so much to my wonderful parents! I love you both so much!

This week's randomness!

SCROLL ALL THE DOWN PAST THE PICTURES FOR A 14 WEEK UPDATE!!

Last Monday the boys went to the Jazz game with Jared's fam for Tyson's birthday. I was supposed to go too, but I had been throwing up all day. I was so mad! They had so much fun though!
My boys are CrAzY!
Grant starts baseball soon and I am so excited! I will post a schedule as soon as I get it!
He calls this position "The Low Down Catcher" and it is his favorite position!
Thursday we went to Aunt Sue Sue's for cake and ice cream for Nicker's birthday!
Grant absolutely loves Nick! (and Syss)
YAY for coloring Easter eggs with Maama and Papa! We had so much fun and always do!
My CrAzY boys again! They always keep me laughing!
We also decorated Easter cookies!
And here is the finished product!

More fun to come.......

14 weeks

I made Grant take a picture of me one day, and when Jared got home and saw it all he could do was laugh. So if you are sitting in front of your computer right now laughing, dont worry my husband did too! I really just wanted to document the tiny bit that I am showing right now.

Your baby is 3.4 inches long by pregnancy week 14, and likely weighs close to 1.5 ounces! About the size of an average fist! Every day of your pregnancy week by week, your baby is growing more and more proportional.
By pregnancy 14 weeks, your baby's body is growing quite rapidly. His length is catching up with his slightly larger head. The ears have started their move to the sides of the head, and the eyes continue to get closer and closer together.
During pregnancy week 14, your baby's neck will elongate, and the chin will start to rise up off the chest. Your baby's reflexes will also continue to develop this week. By now, your baby should be receiving his or her nutrition directly from the placenta.
I am still bleeding a little every couple of days, which means that the hemorrhage has not healed itself like I had hoped that it would. The doctor did warn us that I would probably have this problem throughout the entire pregnancy, and it will most likely get worse in the third trimester as the baby gets bigger and bigger. We are still very hopeful, though it is never far from my mind. The best thing is I have started feeling the baby occasionally! I have to lay down to feel her, but it is the most amazing feeling ever. There was a point when I thought I would never again feel a baby inside of me. Last Saturday night was the first time I felt her and I cried. It is just an incredible, undescribable feeling! And I feel so blessed!
For the last 2-3 months or so I have been having these horrible headaches that I cant seem to get rid of. Lately they have gotten worse and I am about at my witts end. They arent just headaches anymore they have become unbearable, debilitating migraines. When they get bad I truly can not function. My husband works and I have a sweet little boy that I need to take care of. I cant just go to bed. There have been a couple of days that I have had to call Jared and ask him to come home from work, so that he can take care of Grant while I try to deal with it. It may seem extreme but I have never had so much pain in my life and I have tried everything. Other than that, I am doing great and I am so happy right now! I feel so blessed and greatful for this amazing little being growing inside of me!!!
