Not thrilled about what the doctor had to say...
I have been avoiding this post ever since we got home from the doctor. Thank you all for your well wishes. I thought I had better update our loved ones. Heading to the doctor today I wasnt sure what to expect. I thought he would tell me that it was no big deal, continue picking Grant's nose for the rest of his life, his breathing was nothing to worry about, and everything was going to be fine. Of course I was just dreaming. The doctor told me exactly what I didnt want to hear. Our only choice at this point is surgery to remove his adenoid. He has an abnormally large adenoid that is restricting his nasal passages from draining and it is also effecting his breathing. As Grant gets older and grows his adenoid will also grow and continue to effect him. The doc explained that the way it is effecting his breathing is really not good, thats why he has bags under his eyes, he is always tired, he is always pale, he has bloody noses all the time and his lips are always chappy no matter what we do to sooth them. Those are just a few ways that this is effecting my little man. Grant is scheduled for surgery on Dec. 9 The doctor informed me that this is a pretty simple procedure. They do have to put him under (dont like the idea of that) It is an out patient surgery that should only take about 30 minutes. Then they will keep him for a few hours to make sure he comes out of the anesthesia ok. He will be under the weather and have a sore throat for a few days after and then HOPEFULLY he will be able to breathe like a normal child. Right now he is considered a "mouth breather," thats what the doctor called him. Lets all pray that this is the answer to the problem because there is no guarantee.
Well thats not all... Grant may have sleep apnea. WTF??? He is only four and a half. Sleep apnea? Are you serious? I was in shock. I know I have talked about his sleeping habits (waking frequently, night terrors, sleep walking, sleep talking, waking up gasping for air) before but I never imagined that. They wont even test him for it until after the surgery. So we will see.
I was a little shocked by all of this, and it hit me hard. I have been very emotional about it today. I know that everything will be alright and Grant will be ok. I trust the doctor doing the surgery and I feel that we made the right choice for Grant (our choices were do it now or wait until it gets worse, what would you choose?) This is not a life threatening condition and I know that the three of us are strong and together we can conquer the world! BUT he is my baby and I worry about him. How is this going to effect him? I am hoping he is young enough that eventually he will forget all about it. I just want what is best for him, like any mother would. He is such a sweet heart and so loving. But he is also very strong and brave. I know he will be just fine and come out of this stronger than ever!!!

Mama called the doctor and the doctor said...
So ever since Grant was born he has had problems with his nose. It is always FULL of boogers. I dont mean a little, I mean most days he just cant breath out his nose because absolutely no air can get through. I can not stand it because he talks so funny and it drives me crazy. I know it drives him crazy too. Everyday I have to pick his nose several times a day and he hates it. Wouldnt you hate your mom picking your nose several times a day? I feel so bad for him. I have been meaning to take him to the doctor for a while now and I have just been putting it off. I am kind of afraid of what they might tell me.
Well about a month ago I started noticing that he was having to stop and take big deep breaths every once in a while. Almost like he just wasnt getting enough air into his little lungs or something. At first I didnt think much of it, but it has progressively gotten worse. He is to the point where he is having to take a big deep breath about every 30 seconds. I dont know what to think, the first thing that came to my mind was asthma but I dont know anything about asthma?? I dont think these two problems are related but I could be wrong.
I made Jared call the pediatrician today and he explained to him what was going on. The ped. said that he didnt even want to see him because he needs to see a specialist. So we have an appointment on Wednesday with the specialist and I am a little nervous about it. I am just hoping that it is not too big of a deal and we can easily take care of it or treat it.
Wish us luck!

Natalee had this posted on her blog (http://theneilsonfam.blogspot.com/) and I thought it was so funny I had to steal it.
GO UTES!!!
I think most of you know where I stand on the big game tomorrow, but just in case it isnt clear, hopefully this will clear it up!

Mommy's little helper!
I took these pictures yesterday and I just thought it was so cute that Grant wanted to help me out by "shoveling" the leaves. I had been complaining that I was so sick of the leaves being tracked into the house and so he took it upon himself to clean them all up for me.

He is so funny! He said to me "Wow Mom! This is harder work than I thought it would be." So cute!

Only problem is, this is where the leaf shovel ended up when he was done. I figured he had done all that work just to make me happy (and of course I was VERY happy) I just put the shovel away for him. He is so sweet and he loves to make mommy and daddy happy! We are so proud of him!

Grant's first crush
When Grant got home from school today he came over to give me a hug and the conversation went like this...
Me: I love you so so much little love bug!
Grant: I love you too Mom!
Me: Oh yea? How much?
Grant: All the way to Pluto and all the way back.
Me: Who is your very bestest girl?
Grant: Lily....... Oh and you Mom!
Jared was sitting there when we were having this conversation and he said that when he went to pick Grant up from school today he was a little early so he went in. All the kids were sitting on the floor watching a movie and Grant and Lily had their arms around each other. And Lily wanted to come home with Grant.
So I think my little love bug has his first crush. He is only 4. It is scary and cute at the same time. I know it is just innocent, but really, he is only 4. Silly kids.

Stop! You're under darrest!
Officer Grant with his Grandpa Craig!
Uncle Coco got darrested (that's how Grant says it)
Grant and aunt Moe
Officer Grant and "Jazz fan Jared" going trick or treating in my parents neighborhood.
"Halloween is my very favorite night!" That's what Grant told almost every person who answered the door while he was trick or treating!
Grant's loot! I am a little surprised at his lack of interest in the candy. He had two pieces on Halloween night and one the next day. He hasn't even asked today. So I plan on throwing it away tomorrow. I am almost positive he wont even miss it so why not?
After all the fun we had we put him in his jammies and he passed out! We had such a great night! Thank you to Grandpa Craig, Aunt Susu, and of course Maama and Papa!
